BACKGROUND:
Dr. Irina Vaynshteyn received her B.A. and M.S. in Speech and Language Pathology from Brooklyn College/CUNY, and her Ph.D. in Communicative Sciences and Disorders from New York University. She is a certified member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), a certified NYS Teacher of Speech and Hearing Handicapped (TSHH), and a certified bilingual speech and language pathologist. Dr. Vaynshteyn is a PROMPT trained therapist.
Dr. Vaynshteyn has been practicing in the field of speech and language pathology since 1998. She has vast clinical experience with a wide range of speech/language/feeding disorders across monolingual and bilingual pediatric and adult/geriatric populations. Dr. Vaynshteyn has worked in a variety of clinical settings, including hospitals/rehab facilities, pediatric home care, pre-schools, schools (K-12), and private practice.
TEACHING:
Dr. Vaynshteyn has taught undergraduate and graduate speech language pathology courses at New York University from 2007-2013. Currently, she teaches full time as an Assistant Professor of the Graduate Program in Speech Language Pathology at Touro College School of Health Sciences. Her teaching experience is in the areas of early language development, language disorders, speech sound disorders (i.e. articulation and phonology), phonological processing disorders, language-based learning disabilities, and research.
Dr. Vaynshteyn has been clinically supervising and mentoring graduate speech language pathology students during their research and clinical internships, providing feedback, guidance, and coaching.
